The truth is unforgiving but will set you free.

The Boys of St. Vincent

I saw this wonderful docudrama and I thought sharing it with you.

The Boys of St. vincent is based on real events that occurred in Newfoundland, Canada. The film is made in two parts: (1) relayed the abuses, physical and sexual, that the brothers have inflicted to the orphans and (2) sums up the trial of the accused and the hardships of grown-up sexualy abused children.

This made-for-television movie asks the audience to emphatize with a phedophile as a human being and not merely pervert which made it very sensational also as it has been highly condemned by both the Catholic Church and the Newfoundland government.

The abuser Lavin played by Henry Czerny

have shown a conflicting side of a person's character. The fact that he is a handsome, intelligent and charismatic man but somewhat twisted in the eyes of Kevin(Johnny Morina),

the abused kid. Kevin Reevey is one of the abused children that the movie have focused on all through out the film. He barely speaks but exhudes youthfulness although he was suffering a lot in that time. In part 2, he (Sebastian Spence)

became a very troubled man as he is unable to deal with his past. His anxieties have even meddled his relationship with his girl.

There's also the story of the brothers Stephen (David Hewlett) and Brian (Timothy Webber) Lunney. They were separated as the older have chosen to leave the orphanage but promised to come back for his younger brother. Fate did not let him keep his promised. They met each other again in the second part of the movie, now Brian is happily married while Stephen have turned to drugs to drown his pastlife. He comitted suicide after the defense lawyer have revealed that he himself have abused a child when he was a teenager. His death have moved Reevey to finally give his side of the story. Setting him free from anxiety and depression.

Remembering the dreadful

Originating from sub-Saharan Africa during the 20th century, AIDS has claimed more than 25 million casualties, making it one of the most destructive epidemics in recorded history.

25 years since then people are still dying from it. Misconceptions such as (1) spread through casual contact, (2) sex with virgins can cure it, (3) homosexual men and drug users are the only infected, (4) anal intercourse alone and (5) open discussion about it will lead to increased rates of homosexuality and AIDS, have not helped in the fight against it.

The mortality have never dwindled across the 7 continents of the world. In fact the numbers are still rising , as of 2007 the figures shows that Asia have topped the list and Oceania is at the bottom. The only weapon potent we have is information dissemination, keeping the people informed about the disease would finally help us eliminate if not control it.

It's already a giant step for this top three countries (in terms of infected people) have put up AIDS Awareness activities to jump up our focus in curbing its rise.

Chinese have distributed brochures in the streets and promoted safe sex by posting warning signs on hotel bed stands. The greatest numbers of infected people in China are from unprotected sexual intercourse between sex workers and their clients.

In United States, President Bush have asked the congress to double the stated funds for AIDS relief to a whopping US $ 30 billion over the next five years. He also saw the need to rededicate and turn the tide against it. He plans to travel to sub-Sahara Africa(where it all began) next year to extend his help to 2/3's PWA who lives there.

A concert was held in Johannesburg, South Africa whereas roughly 50,000 people attendees have flocked the venue.

Ludacris, Razorlight, Goo Goo Dolls and Annie Lennox are among the ones who have graced the said concert. Even the rock band Queen, which lost Freddie Mercury dreadfully have made their new song 'Say It's Not True' freely available for download from the band's website. Roger Taylor, Queen's drummer have reinforced Mandela's take on the disease and said "We have to be aware, we have to protect ourselves and those we love. No one is safe from infection."

Casual sex inducing chemicals

Although am still consistent with my abhorrence of the use of chemicals to affect human behavior. I can't help but wonder what if we have one that can help us engage into a casual sex. Would you be tempted to use it?

I saw this article, confirming that the chemical oxytocin greatly affects trust and generosity to strangers so much it is 80 % overwhelmingly accurate. Imagine if you combine oxytocin and sex pheromone,

we can come up with a concoction that would help us get who we want right away. Guys will be sexually generous and trusting and easily be coerced into doing ONS (one night stands). Eerie, right? But it could be possible, it's just a matter of time until someone can come up with this chemical, and probably it would be a best seller just like Viagra.

Blurred lines of sexuality

The flourishing internet e-businesses particularly pornsites and blogsites catering to just about everything you can think of have broken the lines of separation between Gay, Straight, Bi, Omni and A-sexual. Such are the labels that we have been wearing ever since the closet door hit the floor and we waved our rainbow pride flag and these were being created by the society to help recognize differences in people, but with the internet, these lines are already blurred and gone is the day that there is a "normal" approach to one's sexuality. Again these lines and boundaries are no longer necessary, there is no longer right or wrong when it comes to sex, as long as it is done with the consent of the people involved.

Being gay isn't really about who you sleep with, it is about our freedom to choose regardless of what other people think that is normal and mores. Our gay culture is just a normal reaction to the social integration that we struggled to create until now. Let us now celebrate our freedom of expression and recognition. Keep the internet free from any kind of censorship.

When cynicism and bigotry backfires

Sometimes it's really hard to comprehend people, the things they do and think differ in so many ways, it never fails to boggle your mind. Such as these so-called fundamentalist who have gotten what they deserve, if you want to know more about what I am trying to arrive at, read this:

(1) Church ordered to pay $10.9 million for funeral protest by http://www.cnn.com/

(2) Jury awards father $11M in funeral case by http://www.news.yahoo.com/

Their sick and twisted notion that the people dying in Iraq war is a punishment for the America's tolerance of homosexuality is just outright ridiculous. Reasoning that what they were doing is to spreadout this message(yeah right!), but they have ignored the inflicted emotional distress to the bereaving families. They routinely picket funerals of military personnel carrying placards like in the pictures below:

But the Maryland lawsuit filed by Albert Snyder of York, PA believed to be the very first filed by the family of a fallen serviceman won the rulings and his attorney Craig Trebilcock had urged the jurors to determine the amount of $10.9 M to send the message that no one should bring circus of hate to Maryland. The awarded amount far exceeds the net worth of the defendants as per financial statements filed with the court. Serves them good hmmmmph!

"Gay Bomb," are they serious???

Recently I've listened to a podcast episode of Science Talk about the winners of the Ig Nobel prize and one of them have incurred our gay interest since it talks about producing a chemical to convert a straight guy to a flaming homosexual. Allegedly the research was proposed in an Air Force Base last June 1, 1994 (click the link below to see the hardcopy of the research proposal).

WTF ? Think about this, if they have that thing then there's a possibility that they'll produce the antidote or the one that can turn gay into straight. Creepy!! Aren't they satisfied yet with the failures of the De-homosexualization Programs of Exodus, and now they're turning to gassing us. Geeeeez I maybe on this field where we believe about the potency and efficacy of the chemicals but I detest their use in altering human behavior. Now, where is the morality in there???

One more thing, how could they possibly test these chemicals? Would they do it with their own corps, turning them gay and what happens? Would they discharge them from the service because they're gay? Hmmmm another one of their hullabaloo "Don't ask, don't tell" policies huh!

The dilemna of a beautiful life and living with the truth.

It really incurred my ire upon learning that up to the present suicide cases on the gay teens were still on the upscale. After all my brother's and sister's have broken their legs and limbs just to forward the LGBT cause from all over the world. It is such a waste to loose them, their skills and abilities alone could help in changing our world. The social stigma attached to homosexuality, a lot of people out there still practice out-and-about homophobia which includes derogation and physical assault.

(Read the news itself here.)

I myself have lost a female cousin, and because of what she is and the bigotry of all the people surrounding her at that time she committed suicide. She died from a gunshot that she pointed on her head. (May she rest in peace!!!) It's so painful to think that you lost them and the reasons why they committed it is until now unresolved. When will these so-called adults learn?

So much for the adage "The truth will set you free," in the real world this things does not really happen. It's only a piece of the pie that you have to work on still for every detail of coming out and accepting who and what you are. We are still in hope that in every place could have what New York City have started, "The National Coming Out Day", that someday PLU could truly be happy with their chosen lives.

Desperately "Desperate Housewives"

One cannot imagine that a show as grand as Desperate Housewives would be so tactless to hurt the feelings of the Filipinoes.

Wherein we've been so much needed to take care of them, and now even in terms of educating them (I've heard that they're also importing educators from Asia mostly in the Philippines to teach in their public high schools). In fact, a great number of Filipinoes although born and/or naturalized American citizens have topped the medical community and are experts in their own field. Needless to say, we are so indispensable when it comes to giving care because no other nationalities would give a damn and a sincere heart to the old and sick people like we do.

We deserve to be not treated like this and I hope by this public apology issued by the ABC channel and mediated by ABS-CBN Channel 2 will vindicate us in the eyes of the international community. Here's an excerpt and you'd be the judge:

Israel does not love Ivri too!!!

Ivri Lider was set to perform in a show for the 10,000 Israel troops yet on the last minute he was excluded from it. Only because he declined signing a letter with a very confusing message which he vehemently rejects. The powers that be with their ever clingy and venomous tentacles had made sure he won't be on the show. This was after Ivri have been patriotic by serving as a goodwill ambassador of Israel to the U.S. and serve short-term service in the military. How ironic is that???

Lately there are a lot of gay artist from the Middle East such as Jonathan Gatro, Azis and many others have surfaced and highly visible in the media. Which could mean that even the religious taboos are no longer keeping us from being what we are.
