DR on my lens - Cradle of Technology

Although it's a bit late compared with the other Developing Countries of the world, Dominican Republic boast of their only science and technology institute, if not, one that is credible enough to earn its name;

Instituto de Tecnologico de Las Americas or ITLA. Situated near Parque Cibernetico de Santo Domingo where I presently work.

The institute offers Information Technology, Mechatronic and Multimedia courses. Since it boasts of high-tech facility it is one of the most expensive schools in the country and many of the students come from a well-to-do family.

In a country where most of the time the elders hold the power to rule, it is a joy to see that these kids are growing up with the sense of the importance of science and technology in their lives. And think that is not just a subject matter but a way of life. Maybe someday they will grow up as the powers-that-be and change their country's laid back ways. Realize that the world does not only revolve on them that they should also have to keep up with it's demand of globalization.
